To celebrate Easter this year, I saved up a bunch of fun activities to do the Friday and Saturday before Easter, so that on Easter Day, we could focus on Christ.
I say I saved up to do the activities all in one weekend, when the truth is, I ran out of time and had to pack them in. One of the things we did was watch the town of Sayre's Easter parade. The kids enjoyed running out into the street for candy (me, not so much!). Then that afternoon we went to the Easter egg hunt in the park. Even though each child was supposed to be in a different area for their ages, we all did the one for Cara's age because I am only one person and couldn't be in all three places. The kids filled their basket and each egg was filled with candy, so we were very successful. I also had success getting all the kids to pose with the Easter Bunny without fits or fear, but maybe not all smiling!Merilee was out of school Friday for their Easter break. They got out of school the Friday before and the Monday after Easter! So, we had a picnic and an egg hunt with just us at the park.
Then on Sunday, we got all dressed in our Easter best and went to church to focus on the real message of Easter. Cara is wearing one of Merilee's previous Easter dresses that I love and it coordinated well with Merilee's this year.
I did some steps to this hairdo the night before so we would not be late for church. We barely made it but we weren't late!
My Beautiful Girlies!
Holland had a very non-manly Easter outfit with shoes and hat that matched his shorts. He is a stinker for pictures but looked really cute nonetheless. My one and only picture of the three of them. Did I mention I didn't want to be late for church!
And after church we headed to Grandma's and took a picture with purple peeps to send to my sister, Morgan, on a mission in WA. Her favorite color is purple and she loves peeps and these are the peeps my mom forgot to send her;)
Something else we did this year that we will do from now on was something called "Resurrection Eggs". I put together 12 different things inside plastic eggs that symbolized parts of the Easter Story and the kids took turns opening the eggs to learn why we celebrate Easter. We did this several times and it was fun to hear the kids learn so much each time.
