Holland loves "Thomas and Friends"! We discovered this before he was a year old and he would sit an watch Thomas quietly even when he had been fussing.
So, when his second birthday rolled around, there was no question about a birthday theme. We went really low key with homemade/drawn decorations and cake at Grandma's.
He got some fun Thomas things, trains, tracks, a cute shirt, and this Cars playhut.
All the sites I looked at for Thomas cake ideas used fondant or were really elaborate. So, I just modge podged one of the birthday napkins to a Styrofoam plate and stuck in in the frosting (or in this case cool whip for the lower calories). Easy and I didn't have to be sad of all my hard work being cut up and eaten.
Opening some presents. Behind me is a Thomas poster that we used to play "pin the number 2 on Thomas". Holland really enjoyed himself and was good at opening the presents. After each one, he wanted them taken out of the package so he could play with them, so we had to hide the presents.
He has changed so much in the last few months. He is talking a lot. He will mimic what we say. He makes silly faces and will get up and dance when music plays on the TV. He helps me get him dressed. He can follow simple commands and help me find things or bring things to me. He is very coordinated with his motor skills and is an expert climber. He will climb out of his crib and knock on his door when he wakes up in the morning or after naps. He only feeds himself. He calls candy and all sweets "cupcakes". He LOVES being outside and everything to get dirty with outside. He is learning to be more gentle and work through his frustrations but is still very stubborn. He has good days and bad days in nursery and always cries when I drop him off but the ladies in there are awesome and know how to work with him. I love that I can still rock him to sleep and he only wants to cuddle me after naps. He is a smart, courageous, loving, stubborn boy that will do fantastic things as he gets older. Love ya Holland!!
