Stake Women's Campout 2012

This weekend we went to the annual Lancaster East Stake Women's Campout.  We got there a little late so there were no beds left in the cabins but a sister in the ward suggested we put our sleeping bags on the floor instead of pitching a tent.  I am so glad we did.  The girls strengthened their friendships and I was able to make friends with their mommies.  Cara is best buddies with this cutie, Libby, and even insisted on sharing her bed in the cabin.
The campground was such a retreat from the desert.  Tehachapi is in the mountains and the 30 minute drive there is really pretty.  They have tons of windmills on the mountain ridges and I took this picture as I was driving.

This was the campground.  It had a ton of trees and slopes to explore.  The girls had crafts for them to do and they played with everyone while I had my adult time and worked on my craft.

This was the scene at the end of the drive up the winding mountain road but on the way home.  Hope that makes sense.  These tall skinny trees are so fun looking.
We ended the campout with a trip to McDonald's for some ice cream.  The girls are wearing the headbands they made for one of their crafts.  Merilee did hers herself and I made Cara's.  We had a really good time and are excited for next year and we will be earlier so we actually get beds.
