First Day fo School 2012

California has different cut-off dates for putting kids in grades so whereas Cara would have started Pre-K in Oklahoma, she gets to go straight to Kindergarten in California.  I was not prepared to have her be totally a big girl this year but she handled the chaos of the first day very well.
As I was curling her hair she said she hoped the kids didn't laugh at her and her curly hair.  I said if anyone did, it was because they wished their hair was curly too.  That was also one of the first things she reported to me when I picked her up was that nobody made fun of her curly hair (in a very happy Cara voice!)
Merilee started the 2nd grade and will be one of the oldest in her class.  She said her desk was too short for her legs to fit under.  She gets to ride the bus home so we practiced walking from the bus stop to our house so she wouldn't get lost.  The buses were running really late because it was the first day and we tried calling the school several times to make sure it was still coming.  We thought Merilee would forget which stop was hers.  By the time we were almost in a panic, she got off the bus and was walking down the street toward us.  There was another mother meeting her daughter and she was getting really nervous about the bus being so late as well.
The girls get to take their lunch everyday this year.  Cara is only in Kindergarten for half a day and comes home in time for naps!  They also have half days here every Wednesday and school is dismissed at 1:30 instead of 3:15.
So after naps, Cara opens her door and says, "my nose is bleeding" and sure enough her face, arms, and shirt got blood all over.  She really did not want me taking her picture.  Nor did she want me to take her shirt off to wash it because it was her special new school shirt.  So that wraps up their first day!

Yeah for you guys! I'm so glad you've made it here and are getting thrown in the mix so fast. Hopefully we'll be able to find a time to get together soon. And good luck to your girls on their first year of school there.

Wahoo! What big girls you have! And such gorgeous ones, to boot! ;) I hope you are trying to relax a little while the girls are gone during the day. You need a little r&r. Take any sec you can!
